What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store, then sends back to that website on later visits. Cookies are commonly used to remember who you are between page loads, to measure how a site is used, or to keep a setting in place.

Cookies are not the only way a site can store information in your browser. localStorage is a separate browser storage mechanism: data saved there stays on your device and is available to the site's own scripts, but unlike a cookie it is never automatically sent to a server with each request. This distinction matters on this page, because one of the three storage keys we use is a cookie and two are not.

Cookies we use

This is the complete list. We do not set any cookie or local storage key beyond the three described below.

dms_consent is not a cookie. It is stored in your browser's localStorage, not sent to our servers, and used only so your browser remembers the choice you made the next time you visit. The two _ga entries are set by Google Analytics (property G-8MVH03LXCE) and are true, first-party cookies: your browser sends them only to darkmatt3rstudios.com, not directly to Google. Our analytics script reads their value with JavaScript and forwards it to Google as part of each analytics request.

Your consent

No cookies are set before you accept them. Google Analytics runs on this site in Google's Consent Mode, with analytics_storage defaulting to denied. Until you affirmatively consent through the cookie banner, the _ga and _ga_8MVH03LXCE cookies are not written to your browser.

If you decline, that choice is honored: no analytics cookies are set, and your decision is remembered in the dms_consent local storage key described above so that you are not asked again on every visit. You can change your choice at any time, as described below.

That control requires JavaScript. If you are viewing this page with JavaScript disabled — for example inside a WebView that does not run scripts — it will not respond, and the instructions below are the way to withdraw consent instead.

You can also clear cookies and site data directly through your browser, which removes both the _ga cookies and the dms_consent local storage key and resets your choice:

• Chrome / Edge — open Settings, then Privacy and security, then Cookies and other site data, then Site settings, and remove data for this site (or clear browsing data for a chosen time range).
• Firefox — open Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Cookies and Site Data, then Manage Data, and remove this site.
• Safari — open Settings or Preferences, then Privacy, then Manage Website Data, and remove this site.

After clearing site data, this site will treat you as a first-time visitor and ask for your cookie preference again.

Games and applications

Our games and applications do not use browser cookies — cookies are a web browser mechanism, and most of our products are not delivered inside a browser. Where a game or application needs to remember a setting or recognize a returning player, it may use equivalent local storage on the device, or a platform-provided device or account identifier supplied by Steam, Apple, Google, Meta, or a console manufacturer.

Changes

The version number and date at the top of this page indicate when it was last revised. We will announce material changes to this policy on our website. Your continued use of our website after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
